Shiro Abhyanga
Traditional Indian Head Massage
In Āyurveda, the human body is often compared to an inverted tree, with the head acting as the roots. Just as healthy roots nourish and sustain a tree, a healthy head is essential for overall well-being.
Shiro Abhyanga, the traditional Indian head massage, has been practiced for over 5,000 years as a powerful therapeutic technique to enhance physical, mental, and emotional balance. This treatment works on the subtle energy matrix (Prana) by balancing:
Chakras – the body’s energy centers
Nadis – channels that carry life force energy
Marma points – vital energy junctions that influence well-being
Regular Shiro Abhyanga offers a wide range of benefits, including:
Relief from stress, anxiety, and mental fatigue
Improved sleep and relaxation
Reduction in headaches and migraines
Soothing of sinus congestion and facial tension
Stimulation of lymphatic drainage around the face, head, and neck
Rejuvenation of tired eyes
Conditioning and nourishment for the hair and scalp
This treatment is performed while seated and fully clothed, with warm Ayurvedic oils applied to the hair for deep relaxation and nourishment.
